Consumer Protection Act Bill Passes Virginias House of Delegates and Senate

RICHMOND, VA February 23, 2009 HB 2039, Virginia Consumer Protection Act; recalled products. Provides that it is a prohibited practice under the Virginia Consumer Protection Act to sell, offer for sale, or manufacture for sale a children's product that the supplier knows or has reason to know was recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

This bill will enable the State Attorney General the option to go after retailers who knowingly sell recalled childrens toys said Delegate Salvatore R. Iaquinto (R-Virginia Beach). I am pleased that we are making easier for the States Top Cop to prosecute those who willingly violate the law. The most important objective is to get these recalled and dangerous toys off of the shelves

The bill has passed both the House of Delegates and the Senate and is awaiting the Governors signature.
